Concord is throwing its first-ever Pedal Fest, a free celebration of bikes, community, and pedal-powered fun. It is put on by the City of Concord together with Bike Concord, the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, and community partners.
It is a neighboring-city event rather than one of ours, but it is an easy trip from Walnut Creek and worth supporting: a well-attended first year is what convinces a city to do it again.
Whether your family bikes every weekend, your child is just learning, or you have not been on a bicycle in years, this one is built for you.
What's happening
- Bike rodeo and skills courses — build confidence, practice bike handling, and learn to ride more safely in a welcoming environment
- UpCycle Bike Program — kids outgrow bikes almost as fast as shoes. Run with Mount Diablo Resource Recovery, this lets Concord families trade in an outgrown bike and find a better-fitting ride, keeping good bikes rolling and more kids on two wheels
- Bike safety and education — meet local advocates and safety partners, learn the rules of the road, and pick up practical tips
- Pedal-powered fun — make a smoothie on a blender bike and find out what else you can run on your own two legs
- Art and crafts — hands-on activities for kids and families, including bike-powered spin art
- Live music by Quattro — an eclectic world fusion band on a mission to bring joy to the people
- Food trucks — including Los Tacos in your Belly, which also counts toward Visit Concord's Taco Trail Challenge
- Community booths — local organizations, biking resources, interactive booths, and Pedal Fest goodies
Admission is free and no registration is required. Bring your own bike and a helmet.
