Bike Family Fest 2026
A free bike festival for the whole family
The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is hosting Bike Family Fest, a free community-wide event to encourage and support kids who want to bike, whether they already ride or are just getting started. It runs from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Diablo Valley College overflow parking lot in Pleasant Hill, a short ride from Walnut Creek along the Contra Costa Canal Trail.
More than twenty activity stations are planned, including a pump track and obstacle courses for beginner through advanced riders, free mechanic tune-ups, helmet fit checks and help choosing the right helmet, bike demos, bike maintenance training, cargo bike demonstrations, canal trail etiquette lessons, mountain biking information, nutrition and wellness activities, food vendors, and entertainment. BMX stunt riders perform during the final hour, so it is worth staying to the end.
Bring a bike and a helmet. The event is aimed at families with kids ages 2 to 11, but everyone in the community is welcome.
Registration is required
Every attendee must register, adults and children alike, even though the event is free. Register online ahead of time so you are not filling out forms in the parking lot.

Getting there
Bike Family Fest is an easy trip from Walnut Creek along the Contra Costa Canal Trail, and arriving by bike is very much the point of the day.
The organizers are running guided group rides to the festival from Martinez, Strandwood, and Valhalla elementary schools.
If you drive, free parking is available in DVC Lots 6 and 7 on Sundays. County Connection buses #314, #316, and #320 serve the event on Sundays, and all of them have bike racks on the front of the bus.
Volunteer
The organizers are still looking for volunteers to help run the day. It is a good way to support a lot of new young riders in one afternoon.
